Crown Moulding

Millwork Profiles - Revit Crown Moulding families

Crown molding elevates a room's stature, drawing the eye up to the ceiling and echoing design motifs seen in other moldings to create a cohesive and polished look for the space. It is usually used at the top of walls, but also caps pilasters. More recently it is a preferred enhancement to the tops of kitchen cabinets.

How to make Crown Molding in Revit:

To create crown molding, use the Wall Sweep tool.

  1. In a 3D or elevation view, click Architecture tab > Build panel > Wall drop-down > Wall: Sweep.

  2. On the Properties palette, click Edit Type, or click Modify | Place Sweep tab > Properties panel > Type Properties.

  3. In the Type Properties dialog, for Profile, select the desired Crown Molding profile type.

  4. Click Modify | Place Wall Sweep > Placement panel, and select the orientation of the wall sweep: Horizontal.

  5. Place the cursor over the wall to highlight the wall sweep location. Click to place the wall sweep.
